New Hope Villa Overview
Since 2007, Miami Valley Housing Opportunities, Inc. (MVHO) has been responsible for the property management and staffing of New Hope Villa, formerly known as the County Home. New Hope Villa is a 25-unit Single Room Occupancy (SRO) apartment building that provides housing for mentally ill residents of Montgomery County, aged 55 and older.
Referral and Eligibility Process
Referrals for housing at New Hope Villa are made through local community mental health agencies and providers, such as Eastway and South Community. The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board coordinates housing placements by receiving referrals directly from clients’ mental health providers. The Board then assesses whether the client meets the eligibility requirements for placement.
Key eligibility criteria include:
- The applicant must be ambulatory.
- The applicant must be capable of managing their own medication independently, as prescribed.
Resident Services and Amenities
Each resident at New Hope Villa has their own private room, complete with an individual bathroom for added privacy and comfort. MVHO ensures that residents are supported 24/7 with the availability of Resident Aide staff, including during holidays.
In addition to round-the-clock assistance, MVHO provides a range of services and amenities to ensure a high quality of life for residents, including:
- Food Services: Nutritious meals are provided to all residents.
- Laundry and Custodial Services: Regular laundry services and cleaning of common areas are offered.
- Maintenance: Both interior and exterior repairs and upkeep are taken care of by MVHO staff.
- Utilities: All utilities, including electricity, water, and heating, are covered by MVHO at no cost to residents.
New Hope Villa also features common areas such as an Activity Room, which encourages social interaction and serves as a space for communal dining and activities, further fostering a sense of community and connection among residents.
