Miami Valley Housing Opportunities manages over $2 million each year in Shelter Plus Care (S+C) Rent Subsidies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These subsidies allow us to serve more than 400 formerly-homeless persons with disabilities.
MVHO has been providing this type of service since 1991 and is currently serving more than 400 people, about 90 of whom are housed in units owned by MVHO. It is important to note that MVHO provides the housing (“shelter”) component of S+C, but we do not provide the “care” component. The service partners for the Shelter Plus Care Program include Daybreak, Homefull, Daymont, Eastway, South Community, YWCA, Safe Haven, Goodwill, Places, the Veterans Administration, the Samaritan Clinic and various other community service agencies.
