Miami Valley Housing Opportunity’s Beacon Place Village will provide 40 cottages of approximately 500 square feet for individuals exiting homelessness.
Each unit will feature:
- one bedroom
- full bath
- kitchen/living area
At the heart of the Village will be a community center for:
- services
- case management
- entertainment
- recreation
This initiative will serve as a prototype for future affordable housing projects. The Village will add a new type of housing for the homeless and will serve as a model for future developments while providing the tenants with the dignity of privacy in a home of their own in a service-enriched environment.
The proposed site is in northeast Dayton on Needmore Road near Old Troy Pike. The initial cost estimate for the Village is $9.5 million, including site work and construction of the community center. Each of the 40 units will be built of local company Unibilt Industries with onsite work completed by Dayton-based The Oberer Companies.
